2nd May Northumberland!!!!
Tristan's just got his second hand car, so we decided to give it a run to Northumberland. Now we new there was nothing about but gave it a go anyway.
First stop was Grindon Lough, but there wasn't much here just a few Redshank, a Ringed Plover and some Dunlin.
Next to the Black-necked Grebe site in Newcastle, but WHAT no Grebes, they must have been hiding. This wasn't looking good. Tristan spotted a Scaup thingy and on closer inspection it looked like a Lesser Scaup but structurally it was too big, the vermiculations wern't right and there was to much black on the bill, so hybrid was the outcome. There were a few Ruddy Ducks knocking around.
Next onto St Marys Island where we had good views of Sedge Warbler and Gropper.

Next was Lunch and then onto Cresswell where there was very little, a Whimbrel was only thing of note and East Chevington had a few Common and Sandwich terns.......bit crap really. On Returning to Cumbria we stopped for Pied Flycather and , Yellow Wagtails these showed really well, these two areas saved the day and typically it was in Cumbria. Good finish to the day.
